Three Sixty Project launches ONE x ONE x ONE, a traveling art exhibition developed in the aim of generating funds to fuel projects that benefit underdeveloped youth markets globally.
Heading to three of Australia’s skateboard capitals Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, and with artwork curated in a collaborative effort by Qwux (Rah Collective), Josh Thorsen (Kid9) and Just Another Agency, the show will exhibit 55 skateboard artworks designed by a range of prolific Australian artists including Ben Brown, Bennett, Rebecca Murphy, Mr Singh, Cupco and Mia Taninaka, of which when sold, all profits will go into youth community projects.
The concept of art and skateboarding is nothing new, as both have long gone hand-in-hand as popular forms of creative expression.
The event features some of Australia’s best artistic talent and is supported by uprising galleries Lo-Fi (Sydney), No Vacancy (Melbourne) and 19Karen Gallery (Gold Coast) bringing together the art and skateboarding communities in an atmosphere that encourages the cultivation of expression and philanthropy.
“There is no doubt that Three Sixty Project would not be where it is without the support of individuals, businesses – and in this case – Artists and Sponsors. The generosity of everyone involved allows us to maximise the impact we can have on the lives of under-privileged youth all over the world, and through the amazing sport of skateboarding.” Paul Munro – Founder, Three Sixty Project
Funds are raised by the sales of decks available on the night and online atwww.threesixtyproject.com ,gold coin donation and huge raffles of product donated by project sponsors VANS, SDS, The House of Marley, Element, Billabong, Alien Workshop and Blackberry.
About ONE x ONE x ONE
The ever-changing relationship between art and skateboarding is one that goes back to the very roots of this iconic sport. Skaters roll on boards adorned with graphics as colourful as the riders themselves, and collectors fill their walls with irreplaceable, limited edition decks.
It was only a matter of time before artists saw the opportunity of utilising the humble skate deck as an empty canvas – with potential to bring together the creative expression of art and the rich culture of skateboarding.
ONE x ONE x ONE pays homage to the creative talent we have in Australia, whilst raising funds for Skate Programs working with under-privileged youth all over the world. 2011’s inaugural exhibition sees 55 skate deck artworks travel to Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, showcasing a diverse range of works by some of Australia’s most prolific artists.
